What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a mental state of highly focused concentration, diminished peripheral awareness, and heightened suggestibility. It can be induced by various techniques, such as verbal repetition, mental imagery, or guided instructions. Hypnosis can be used for therapeutic purposes, such as reducing pain, anxiety, stress, or phobias. It can also help with behavior change, such as quitting smoking, losing weight, or improving self-esteem.

Hypnosis is not a form of sleep, but rather a state of altered consciousness that allows for improved focus and concentration. People who are hypnotized do not lose control over their actions or memories, but they may become more open to suggestions from the hypnotist or themselves. Hypnosis can have different effects on different people, depending on their level of trance, personality, expectations, and motivation.

Hypnosis is a safe and natural phenomenon that can be beneficial for many physical and mental health conditions. However, it should be performed by a trained and licensed professional who can assess the suitability and risks of hypnosis for everyone. Hypnosis should not be used to replace medical treatment or to harm oneself or others.

Hypnosis is a relaxed state of mind that enables the client to block out external stimulus and enter a trancelike state. Hypnotherapy uses this trancelike state to enable the client to achieve a heightened awareness of themselves, to elicit change in their lives.

What happens in a Hypnotherapy session?

When the client is in hypnosis, you will be in a state of relaxation that you experience when you are lying in bed, right before you fall asleep. The client is awake, but focused on the internal thoughts and memories that the hypnotherapist guides him through.

Hypnotherapy is a two-way process between the hypnotherapist and the client. A person must consent to being hypnotized and cooperate throughout the process. Unlike a stage act, where people act like chickens when a bell is rung, the hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything that you do not consent to do. What hypnotherapists do is therapeutic as opposed to stage hypnosis that is done for entertainment. Most of the population has experienced being in a hypnotic state at some time in their lives. For example, if you have been driving and suddenly realize that you were thinking about something and cannot remember driving the last 50 miles, when you are daydreaming, or gardening, or reading a book.

What is Hypnotherapy?

There are two applications to hypnotherapy. Suggestion therapy utilizes the power of suggestion in a hypnotic state to change behaviors. It helps people to stop smoking and eating fattening foods. Suggestion therapy is instrumental in treating chronic pain as it helps people change their perceptions on the pain itself.
Hypnotherapy also uses analysis in a hypnotic state to uncover the root cause of issues that a person is experiencing. The relaxed state enables the client to recall events from their unconscious memory, which may not be evident while in a non-hypnotic state. Using these two applications, the hypnotist is able to help the client resolve issues and overcome obstacles that they have been living with. Hypnotherapy is completely safe and very effective.

In hypnosis your conscious mind becomes less active, but you remain awake, At this point, your subconscious mind is especially receptive to suggestions. It is your subconscious mind that responds to suggestions and causes those suggestions to manifest themselves in your life. Your subconscious mind does what you tell it to do. The subconscious mind doesn’t think, reason or rationalize. It only follows instructions. Your conscious mind thinks, reasons, and rationalizes- and often argues against what you want. This is why the conscious mind needs to be relaxed and quieted, so it won’t argue against what you are instructing your conscious mind to do.
